Education & Credentials
I earned my Doctor of Education from the University of the Pacific in 2023, building on a Master’s in Curriculum & Instruction from the University of Colorado and a Bachelor’s in Social Science from San Diego State University. I hold a Career Technical Education (CTE) credential in STEM/Industrial Technology, along with certifications in Reading and Literacy Leadership, English, Social Studies, and English Learner instruction. Professional Memberships I stay connected to the wider education community through the American Educational Research Association and the International Literacy Association, while continuing to grow my work in STEM and robotics education. |
When I was sixteen, my life turned upside down. My mom moved my two brothers and me into a domestic abuse shelter. Overnight, I had to leave behind everything familiar—my home, my friends, even my high school. After the shelter, we moved often. By the time I should have graduated, I had attended three different high schools in three different cities. I remember feeling scared and alone, standing at a crossroads: follow the path that so many before me had taken, or pursue education as my mother tirelessly modeled. I chose education. It became my beacon of hope, and with determination, I earned my GED and became the first in my family to graduate from college.
Looking back, I realize I’ve always had a gift for breaking down big concepts and making them clear to others. I discovered this joy while tutoring elementary students and mentoring younger campers. And I’ll never forget the middle school teacher who saw potential in my writing and told me I had talent. That belief changed me.
Today, I carry forward that same lesson: teaching must focus on the whole child. Every student deserves to feel seen, capable, and equipped to grow into their future. That’s why I’ve dedicated my work as a STEM and CTE educator to helping students discover the power of robotics, automation, and hands-on learning—skills that grow confidence, spark ambition, and open doors to real college and career opportunities.
